Shocking Violence in a Private Care Center in Konya: Disabled Person Locked in a Room, Beaten

The mind-blowing incident took place on June 2 at the private disabled care and rehabilitation center operating in the central Karatay district of Konya.

Allegedly, severely mentally disabled Ahmet G. was locked in the activity room by rehabilitation staff along with 2 disabled people.

ONE PUT HIS FINGER INTO HIS EYE, THE OTHER JUMPED ON HIM

According to Zafer Samancı's report, 45-year-old Halil G., one of the disabled people who was locked in the room for about 2 hours, repeatedly put his fingers into Ahmet G.'s eyes. The other mentally disabled person in the room, 28-year-old İbrahim Y., jumped on Ahmet G. and beat him by applying pressure to his legs.

HE TRIED TO ESCAPE BUT COULD NOT OPEN THE DOOR

In the images reflected on the security cameras in the room where the horror took place, it is seen that Halil G. is constantly attacking Ahmet G.'s eyes, putting his fingers in his eyes, and blood is coming from Ahmet G.'s eyes. It is seen that Ahmet G., who was hurt, tried to open the door to escape the violence, but failed because it was closed, while the attacker coming behind him continued the violence.

It is among the images captured on camera that İbrahim Y. kicked the door and tried to make his voice heard, but no one came to help. The images show that the officers who entered last found Ahmet G. covered in blood, and then the paramedics entered.

"IT CANNOT BE CORRECTED WITH SIMPLE MEDICAL INTERVENTION"

Following the incident, Ahmet G., who was injured, and the two mentally disabled people who attacked him were taken to the hospital and treated. In the first examination of Ahmet G., who had a speech disorder and could not express himself, hematon (blood accumulation in and around the eye) was detected in his eyes, and laceration (tearing or disintegration of the skin and underlying tissues) was detected in his eyes, and it was stated that it could not be resolved with simple medical intervention.

A CASE WAS FILED AGAINST 5 PEOPLE FOR TWO CRIMES

Within the scope of the investigation, social worker Ahmet S., responsible manager of the institution Ali Rıza K., caregiver Halil İbrahim B., founding director of the care center Muhammet Hamza V. and technician Rafet K. were detained. While caregiver Halil İbrahim B. was arrested, the other suspects were released.

At the end of the investigation carried out by the Konya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a lawsuit was filed against the suspects, demanding that they be punished for the crimes of 'deprivation of liberty' and 'intentional injury through negligence'. It was requested that a decision be made stating that there was no need for punishment for the two mentally disabled attackers.

"THEY LOCKED THEM IN THE ROOM AND LEFT THEM ALONE AND DID NOT TAKE PRECAUTIONS"

In the indictment, it was stated that the employees and managers of the disabled care center, who were listed as suspects, caused the incident because the disabled individuals were locked in the room they were in, they were left alone, the necessary checks were not made, precautions were not taken, and they neglected their duties.

On the other hand, it was learned that Halil İbrahim B, who was arrested, was released during the prosecution phase and the trial is continuing.
