Mitsubishi previews the launch of the new generation Delica D:6 in December, and Taiwan's Chunghwa Motors confirms that it will be locally produced

The Delica D:5, which plays an important role in Mitsubishi's MPV, Japanese media pointed out that a new generation Delica D:6 will be launched in December this year after 18 years. In addition to a new appearance and a more technological cabin, the power will be a PHEV plug-in hybrid and a pure electric configuration. The new generation platform will expand the internal space and improve the body rigidity. In Taiwan, China Automobile announced that the Delica D:6 will be domestically produced after it is officially released.

The new generation Delica will be designed based on the D:X Concept concept car.

According to Japanese media reports, the power system of the new generation Delica D:6 has been significantly changed. The original diesel system has been abandoned and equipped with a 2.4-liter PHEV plug-in hybrid system, which has excellent performance and pure electric range. There will also be a pure electric configuration, which is speculated to adopt a dual-motor four-wheel drive layout, with 394 horsepower and a cruising range of 550 kilometers.

By then, the body size of the new Delica will reach 4,800x1,815x1,875mm, with a wheelbase of 2,850mm. As it gains a larger body, the interior space will be more spacious, and its competitors will leap into the Toyota Alphard and Nissan Elgrand levels. At the same time, the car is expected to introduce a full digital instrument, support a variety of driving information displays, and add a 12.3-inch central control screen.

It is expected to have a more technological head and tail design.

The new generation Delica will refer to the design of the D:X Concept concept car. The overall body shape is still the square MPV outline, but the front is taller, and in-line headlights are introduced, embellished with horizontal line daytime running lights, creating a more layered vision. The front is almost a closed design, with only a honeycomb-shaped air intake grille below.

The new generation Delica will have larger cabin space and improved rigidity.

The new Mitsubishi Delica D:6 will be fully introduced with the MI-PILOT driving assistance system, including radar cruise control, lane keeping assist, etc., to achieve Level 2 automatic assisted driving, as well as active braking, reverse collision warning, etc. Japanese media also predict that the price of the new Delica D:6 will start from 5 million yen (approximately NT$1 million), which is a lot higher than the current version.

China Automobile recently revealed Taiwan's future new car plans. The Delica currently sold in China is still stuck in the third-generation version, but when the Delica D:6 is officially released, it will be domestically produced and is expected to become an important competitive force of China Mitsubishi.
