VOLVO (International Volvo) Automobile today released the VOLVO EX90, the first large-scale pure electric flagship SUV built on the SPA2 platform.
Lin Yukai, president of VOLVO Taiwan, said that VOLVO no longer pursues bomb marketing when launching new cars, but instead adopts a high-quality, steady-flow sales model. It is estimated that the sales volume of VOLVO EX90 this year will be around 100 to 200 units.
Lin Yukai said that when VOLVO’s past operating strategies pursued “volume”, there were many operations, and those operations first harmed existing car owners. VOLVO began to learn this last year, and its operating strategies from brand to dealers have become more consumer-oriented, discarding many traditional luxury car postures.
In order to improve the consumer experience, the product launch strategy has changed, starting from the beginning of pricing, it is more friendly to the people. For example, the VOLVO XC40 petrol-electric vehicle has the same price as a pure electric vehicle, lowering the entry threshold for electric vehicles.
To protect the rights and interests of existing car owners, dealers will also be explicitly prohibited from releasing large quantities of new and used cars from 2025 to avoid damaging the value of second-hand cars to existing car owners and fulfill their promises to consumers.
It is expected that seven new cars will be launched next year. Starting from next year, the past model of sporadic release of new cars will be changed. Revised models of the same series (such as the 40 series) will be launched simultaneously at one time, providing consumers with a complete choice. "The brand will no longer bear the huge sales pressure of the headquarters, but will instead pursue real and healthy growth."
Lin Yukai said, "I don't want to bombard the new car with marketing as soon as it comes out, which will lead to the proliferation of the brand." Instead, it will be a high-quality model. When consumers really accept it and generate demand, they will force us to buy more cars. This is a healthy model. In the past, there were many operations to achieve the goal of 500 or 1,000 cars, but consumers and dealers may not benefit.
He bluntly stated that the brand's physical adjustment plan is expected to take one to two years to adjust, covering new information delivery, new service models, etc. The brand will first lead by example and change the source, and then the dealers will follow up. With a "small but beautiful" marketing model, it will abandon the previous large-scale press conferences and use more elaborate activities to save costs and give back to dealers and customers.
The new Volvo EX90 introduces an 800V electrical architecture. This advanced technology brings three core advantages: shorter charging time, reduced heat loss by halving the current at the same power, and excellent performance in maintaining high voltage output in the medium and high speed range.
With the ultimate charging efficiency, 10 minutes of DC fast charging can provide a cruising range of 230~245 kilometers, and charging from 10% to 80% only takes 22 minutes; the Plus model can provide a range of 479~565km, and the Ultra model can provide a range of 521~617km (using WLTP test standards).
At the same time, it is equipped with the newly evolved Safe Space Technology, which integrates a powerful hardware lineup of 5 sets of cameras, 5 sets of radars and 12 sets of ultrasonic sensors. The system can calculate in real time and construct a high-precision 360° field of view with zero blind spots.
All vehicles, pedestrians, bicycles or stationary objects can be accurately identified; when potential danger is detected, the system will immediately issue an early warning with sound, light and seat belt vibration. If it is judged that the risk of collision is unavoidable, advanced active safety assistance will seamlessly take over and instantly perform active braking or steering to avoid accidents, using cutting-edge smart technology to perfectly nip the risk in the bud.
The recommended prices are RMB 2.95 million for EX90 Plus, Single Motor, RWD, RMB 3.55 million for EX90 Ultra, Twin Motor, eAWD, RMB 3.79 million for EX90 Ultra, Twin Motor Performance, eAWD (7 seats), and RMB 3.85 million for EX90 Ultra, Twin Motor Performance, eAWD (6 seats).
