South Chungcheong Province conducts joint crackdown on illegal fishing in fall season

South Chungcheong Province announced on the 29th that it will conduct a joint crackdown on illegal fishing with related organizations such as the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, cities and counties for the next month to mark the fall season when fishing becomes more active.

The province intensively cracks down on unlicensed and unlicensed fishing and fishing gear violations that may occur during periods of increased fishing, both on land and at sea.

The main targets of crackdown include unlicensed and unlicensed fishing, use of illegal fishing gear, violation of fishing restrictions, and failure to wear life jackets.

In particular, we plan to respond strictly, including judicial action, to illegal fishing that leads to overfishing of fishery resources.

In addition to crackdowns, we also carry out activities to prevent fishing boat safety accidents due to weather changes.

The province will also carry out activities to inform fishermen of the main contents and systems of the 'Sustainable Coastal Fisheries Development Act', which will take effect from June next year.

Jang Min-gyu, head of the Fisheries Resources Department of South Chungcheong Province, said, “Fall is an important time to protect fisheries resources and ensure the safety of fishermen,” and added, “We will strictly enforce the law and ensure that the system that goes into effect from next year is well established in the field.”
