Iran's Supreme Leader Mujtaba Khamenei, who rarely speaks publicly, made intensive "appearances" on social media on the 28th, posting 24 social media posts in one go.

One of the most "hard" ones is that the Iranian armed forces "have pushed back the enemy forces from the southern seas to the Arabian Sea and will soon drive them out of the Arabian Sea."

Since taking over as supreme leader in March this year, Mujtaba has been "invisible" most of the time, and it is rare for him to speak out in person. This time, 24 posts were posted in a row, which is naturally "unusual".

And this seems to be more representative of Iran's current posture.

The United States and Iran launched multiple rounds of rapid "offense and defense" in the Strait of Hormuz

Looking back at the recent "offense and defense" between the United States and Iran in the Strait of Hormuz, the pace is very fast.

According to reports from the Iranian Student News Agency and other media, in mid-September, Iran’s plan was delivered to Washington through the mediator. On the 25th, Foreign Minister Araghchi officially announced at the UN General Assembly press conference that the strait can be reopened within 7 days, provided that the United States lifts the maritime blockade and unfreezes Iranian assets;

On the 26th, Trump stated: "I rejected their proposal...I rejected their deal."

But he then added, which could be regarded as leaving a "living mouth" for the current situation: "They want to reach an agreement, which I think is good, and I also like to reach an agreement."

On the 27th, Araghchi made serious remarks in an interview with NBC: "Iran is ready to resume war, even if it means the outbreak of a 'doomsday war.'"

Fortunately, despite the harsh words, Iran has not blocked diplomatic channels. In Araghchi's words: "We are also ready to engage in diplomatic contacts at any time. The choice is in President Trump's hands."

Not only did they make verbal statements, the Revolutionary Guards also disclosed on the same day that they had seized a US military underwater drone in the Strait of Hormuz, sending a tough signal with actual military actions;

In the United States, Trump sent a renamed map twice, and in a telephone interview with Axios News Network on the 27th, he revealed that he expected to continue negotiations with Iran this week.

Who cares more about this strait? It's not said clearly yet.

However, the market has reacted first: as of the close of trading on September 28, global crude oil prices have soared across the board. Among them, Brent crude oil surged 3.63% to US$107.95 per barrel, and U.S. crude oil (WTI) surged 4.06% to US$96.16 per barrel.

At this moment, there are still 35 days until the U.S. midterm elections (November 3). Every increase in oil prices is a negative asset for the ruling party's election, which also requires the U.S. government to weigh between its tough stance and oil price fluctuations.
