Jordan Bardella files complaint against Mediapart for defamation

Time for the response. Barely hours after the publication by Mediapart of an article attributing anti-Semitic and conspiratorial writings to Jordan Bardella dating from 2013, when he was still only a teenager, but already a member of the National Front - now Rally -, the president of the flame party counterattacked on CNews. Faced with comments that he considers “completely delusional” and “denies” having made, the nationalist MEP filed a complaint for “defamation” against the information site.

An action justified, according to him, by the “extremely organized” nature of these revelations, which should have “come out” in the event that he had taken up the torch from Marine Le Pen for the presidential election, in the event of her legal impediment. However, nothing to make him flinch. For him, this affair “resembles a sham operation”, intended to “destabilize the campaign” of the RN and to “try to destroy it politically”. As for who is in charge, he puts forward two hypotheses. “Either Mediapart is at the origin, and (as) it is not based on anything, it is extremely serious; either Mediapart is being smoked by people who have an interest in this destabilizing operation, and it is even more serious,” says Jordan Bardella.

Allegations that are all the more unfounded, for the nationalist figure, as his position on anti-Semitism goes against the writings attributed to him. In this regard, there is “no ambiguity on (his) part,” he swears. As proof, the MEP recalls having been invited by the Israeli government in March 2025 to an international conference on the fight against anti-Jewish hatred, a year and a half after marching in the streets of Paris during the great march against anti-Semitism, organized in the wake of October 7. So many guarantees that make him say that the French “are not fools”, especially those of the “Jewish faith”. And for good reason: “What threatens (them) today is not the RN, it is not Jordan Bardella and it is not Marine Le Pen,” he assured, to better target, without naming them, La France insoumise and Islamism.

Far from keeping a low profile, Jordan Bardella does not hold back his blows against Mediapart, which he accuses of having published a “rag” and of preparing a “series”. Way of clearing out in advance possible documents that the information site could reveal as evidence. “If they were to be published, they will be prosecuted for forgery,” he warned, to the extent that he said he was “certain of not having made these remarks, or even of having thought them for that matter.” So he intends to “use justice to protect (his) honor and to demonstrate (his) total probity”.
